Canada’s Express Entry points for job offers supported by a Labour Market Impact Assessment will be removed, Immigration Minister Mark Miller has confirmed. However, there was no indication when the changes would be made.
The move means that the value of job offers on Express Entry profiles will be significantly reduced. When the system was first introduced in 2015, jobs were given 600 points, the same amount as a state recommendation. That amount was reduced to 50 or 200 two years later, as IRCC sought to better balance the CRS with a candidate’s other credentials.
Advice from the Immigration Consultant
Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) nominations, still worth 600 points, will gain prominence as the only major “boost” to CRS scores. Candidates and provinces can focus on matching skills to local labor market needs.
