Canadian rural immigration pathway

For foreign nationals who can contribute to filling labor shortages in specific communities outside of Quebec and who wish to live there permanently, the Rural Community Immigration Class is a pathway to permanent residence. This is especially true for Iranians with work permits who are searching for ways to obtain permanent residence in Canada.

 

Work experience

Candidates must have worked full-time (or comparable part-time) in a National Occupational Classification (NOC)-listed occupation for at least a year.

  • Within three years of submitting an application for permanent residency, the employment experience must be

 

  • entail carrying out the primary responsibilities and tasks outlined in the NOC;
  • be carried out with a third-party employer (except from medical professionals); and
  • if carried out in Canada, need the applicant to have the appropriate work authorization and temporary residence status.
  • The necessary work experience ought to be connected to the employment offer that was accepted.

Note:

Applicants who meet the following criteria and have earned an approved certification from a post-secondary institution are exempt from the work experience requirement:

  • Acquired the qualification eighteen months before to applying; • Studied full-time during the program;
  • Candidates for master’s or doctorate programs that last less than two years must have spent the whole program living in the community where employment is situated;
  • for programs that last longer than two years, they must have done so for 16 of the 24 months prior to graduation.

Genuine offer of employment

The following conditions must be fulfilled by an employment offer:

  • Be for full-time, permanent employment that isn’t seasonal;
  • Be from a recognized employer (an employer authorized by an economic development body);
  • Be for a job for which the applicant is qualified based on their education or work experience that matches the duties outlined in the National Occupational Classification (NOC);
  • Be for a job for which the candidate has recent work experience, unless they qualify for an exception, such as being a nurse or an eligible international graduate;
  • Be based in the designated community, with at least 75% of the work performed there.

 

Language proficiency

In addition to proving the necessary level of proficiency based on the NOC TEER of their job offer, applicants must submit language test results from an institution certified by the Canadian government.

Education

Applicants must have obtained a secondary school diploma, or a higher-level credential.

 

Proof of funds

Candidates must demonstrate that they have enough cash on hand to sustain themselves and their loved ones for a full year.

* According to Statistics Canada’s annual report, the sum must be at least half of the low-income criterion for rural areas outside of large cities.

Note:

Applicants who are currently employed in Canada are exempt from this rule.

 

Intent to reside

The applicant needs to provide proof that they plan to live in a certain community. At the time of application, candidates must possess a current certificate of recommendation from an organization dedicated to economic development.
